Many times, though, we find ourselves in a bit of trouble when employing this method. We, more than one time, have found ourselves with a beat that sounds great. It may be interesting, hard hitting, catchy, awesome, etc., but it isn't something that we are able to write the rest of a song around, at least the rest of a song that would fit with the other songs on the record that we are currently trying to complete.
This is why we wish that we knew Mos Def (Yes, we are white and we like him and we are aware that it is predictable and cliché for white people to like him- #69 on Stuff White People Like (http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.com/2008/02/17/69-mos-def/). We also love more hip-hop artists than Mos Def, but it's not necessary to list them all, so we won't.). If we did know him, we could give one or all of the beats to him. We think he would love any one of them. This may be dellusion, or it may be our true calling.
Either way, if you know Mos Def or anyone else awesome, who is looking for three producers for a hip-hop album, let us know.

As many of you may already know, we are going to be playing a show on the 20th of this month at The Bottom Lounge. The bill is pretty cool too. We couldn't be more excited to be sharing the stage with Joel Petersen of The Faint's side project Broken Spindles. Also, for those attending, we will be having some more guests playing with us. It should be a great show.

We’re heading north for a while. With work and school and families and roommates and neighbors and rush hour traffic, it’s been a constant fight against distractions to get things done. So, we’re getting out of here.
The plan is to keep writing and recording through May, when we will then travel deep into the woods of the Upper Peninsula, near the Canadian border. We’re going to go hang out with bears and bald eagles and trout and deer and Lake Superior and the Northern Lights and whatever else we might find up there.
Whether the Northern Lights are solar winds and reflections off of the ice on the North Pole or they are spirits of dead warriors that, when they are the right colors (shades of red), signify impending war or famine or if they are spirits of dead children playing with streamers and drapes, this might be exactly what we need.
The goal is to return with a finished, ready to be mixed record. We’ll see what happens.

Our show with Alla at Bottom Lounge last night was another success! Thank you all for coming out and giving us such a warm welcome in the bitter cold night. We had a blast hanging out with everyone, drinking beers and have an all around great time. Thanks for helping make what it was. Also, thank you to the mothers and fathers who came out...your support is endless and we couldn't be happier.

In celebration of our first release, "Skinny Fingers/Little Echoes", we have decided to have a poster created to commemorate this. The poster was designed by my friend Colin Strandberg of theworksteady.com and myself (Nigel, www.electricheat.org). Based on a variation of the cover artwork, it is a 2 color, 19" x 25" silkscreen poster in a first edition of 100. They will be available on our website this week as well as upcoming shows. Thanks.
